What is the problem with Bluetooth headsets that produce sound delays after some time?

First of all, we need to know one thing: the delay is always present in the Bluetooth connection, and there is no way to make it go away. But there are ways to minimize it so that the latency is not too noticeable. Bluetooth takes up more time in the process of encoding, transmitting, and decoding audio data than a wired connection. While there is no practical way (at least not yet) to eliminate Bluetooth audio latency, there are steps we can take to reduce it.

Bluetooth headsets

Method 1: Choose the right audio transcoder

Let's start with the transcoder. For all playback devices (PC, Mac, Android, and iOS), it is extremely important to use the ideal transcoder for Bluetooth transmissions and to have a pair of Bluetooth headsets that support that transcoder. Try to find Bluetooth headsets that support the following transcoders: aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL, LDAC (mostly for Sony), LC3, and Samsung Scalable Transcoder (only for Samsung), which are superior to the universal transcoder SBC introduced in 2003.

Method 2: Transmitter and receiver need to use the same version of Bluetooth

If both the transmitter and receiver use the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard, the connection will use the Bluetooth 5.2 standard. If one of the transmitters or receivers is Bluetooth 4.1 and the other is Bluetooth 5.2, the default connection will fall back to Bluetooth 4.1. Therefore, to make latency lower, both the playback device and the Bluetooth headset need to support the latest Bluetooth 5.2 to enjoy the improved bandwidth and features of Bluetooth 5.2.

In most cases, performing the above two methods will reduce the sound latency in a Bluetooth headset to an almost insignificant level. However, if these two tasks have been completed but the audio and video are still out of sync, some troubleshooting of the device may be required.
